Accordion Item 1
As someone who has taught for 36 years, I often received the same question from parents. “Are my child’s reading skills up to par? “What can I do to help?” Congratulations on taking the first step to ensure that your child becomes a successful reader. As a parent, your goal is not to replace the teacher, but to utilize the assessment tools provided to monitor your child’s progress and identify areas that may need extra attention. These 9 skill assessments serve as benchmarks for the end of Kindergarten and can be a useful tool for parent-teacher conferences throughout the school year. Additionally, there is a video explaining each of the 9 skills and how to use the skill sheets. Please keep in mind that Kindergarten is still very early in a child’s reading development, so progress may be slow. It is important to celebrate your child’s successes and to be patient with their challenges.
